Last updated: June 2, 2026

Welcome to Ridefolk.

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Ridefolk, a platform for discovering, creating, and joining public cycling rides.

By using Ridefolk, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What Ridefolk Is

Ridefolk helps cyclists find and join public group rides, and allows users to create rides for others to discover.

Ridefolk is not a tour operator, travel agency, transport provider, cycling club, event organizer, or professional guide service.

Users are responsible for the rides they create, join, and participate in.

2. Eligibility

You may use Ridefolk only if you are legally allowed to enter into these Terms and use online services in your jurisdiction.

If you are under the age required by law to use online services independently, you may use Ridefolk only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.

3. User Accounts

To create or join rides, you may need to register an account.

You are responsible for:

  • providing accurate account information;
  • keeping your login credentials secure;
  • all activity that happens under your account.

You must notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

4. Ride Creation

When creating a ride, you are responsible for providing accurate and useful information, including the ride location, start time, distance, difficulty, terrain, pace, capacity, and any relevant notes.

You must not create rides that are misleading, unsafe, abusive, illegal, discriminatory, or intended to harm others.

Ridefolk may remove rides that violate these Terms or appear unsafe, misleading, or abusive.

5. Joining Rides

By joining a ride, you understand that cycling involves risk.

You are responsible for deciding whether a ride is suitable for your fitness, skill level, equipment, health, and experience.

You are also responsible for:

  • following traffic laws;
  • wearing appropriate safety equipment;
  • maintaining your bicycle;
  • riding safely and responsibly;
  • respecting other participants;
  • arriving prepared and on time.

Ridefolk does not guarantee that a ride will take place, that ride details are accurate, or that other users will behave appropriately.

6. Safety Disclaimer

Cycling can involve serious injury, death, property damage, weather risks, road hazards, navigation issues, mechanical failures, and interactions with traffic or other people.

Ridefolk does not inspect, supervise, verify, or control rides or participants.

You participate in rides at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ridefolk is not responsible for accidents, injuries, losses, damages, disputes, cancellations, or other issues arising from rides created, discovered, or joined through the service.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against others;
  • post false, misleading, illegal, or harmful content;
  • impersonate another person;
  • use Ridefolk for spam, fraud, scams, or commercial abuse;
  • interfere with the operation or security of the service;
  • scrape, copy, or misuse data from the service;
  • upload malicious code or attempt unauthorized access.

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these rules.

8. User Content

You may submit content such as ride descriptions, comments, profile information, and other materials.

You retain ownership of your content.

By submitting content to Ridefolk, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate, improve, and promote the service.

You are responsible for the content you submit and must have the rights needed to submit it.

9. Moderation

Ridefolk may review, hide, remove, or restrict content or accounts if we believe they violate these Terms, create risk, harm users, or negatively affect the service.

We are not required to monitor all content, and the presence of content on Ridefolk does not mean we endorse it.

10. Availability of the Service

Ridefolk is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or always available.

11. Third-Party Services and Links

Ridefolk may link to third-party websites, maps, route tools, or services.

We are not responsible for third-party content, availability, accuracy, privacy practices, or terms.

Use third-party services at your own risk.

12. Intellectual Property

Ridefolk, including its name, branding, interface, design, and software, is owned by us or our licensors.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or misuse any part of Ridefolk unless allowed by law or with our written permission.

13. Termination

You may stop using Ridefolk at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk for other users, misuse the service, or if required by law.

After termination, certain provisions of these Terms may continue to apply, including safety disclaimers, liability limitations, intellectual property rules, and dispute provisions.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ridefolk and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of use, loss of profits, personal injury, property damage, or issues arising from rides or user interactions.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot legally be limited.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If we make material changes, we may notify users through the service or by other reasonable means.

Your continued use of Ridefolk after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
